Feyenoord manager Arne Slot seems to be on the verge of departing for Liverpool, as indicated by his farewell gesture to fans after Feyenoord’s 5-0 victory over PEC Zwolle.
Despite only one home game remaining for Feyenoord, Slot maintains he hasn’t officially secured the Liverpool role but plans to seek advice from outgoing Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp about managing the Premier League side.
In his interaction with the media, Slot acknowledged the farewell appearance to fans and hinted at the likelihood of joining Liverpool. Regarding Klopp’s offer to assist him through the transition, Slot expressed it as a normal practice to seek guidance from the former coach, emphasizing the value of tapping into the knowledge and experience of someone who has been associated with the club for many years.
The transition to Liverpool presents a significant challenge for Slot, considering Klopp’s influential tenure at Anfield over the past nine years. Reports suggest that Liverpool will compensate Feyenoord with €9 million plus €2 million in add-ons (£9.4m/$11.8m) to secure Slot’s release from his current contract.
As Slot prepares for his potential move, he still has two games remaining with Feyenoord, including a match against NEC on May 12 and the season finale against Excelsior on May 19.
Despite the mixed opinions regarding Slot’s arrival on Anfield, we at the Footy Club, believe that he will be a successful manager in the EPL. It may happen over a long period but as we’ve seen with Klopp – good things take time.
